Someone will let me know if that little picture to the left gets too obnoxious, won't they?

It's the only semi-decent photo taken of me in years... Thank you, D, for taking it. (You can read D's blog at cowbell35 - there's a link at the lower left.) Anyway, I thought it would be fun to include a photo, but there it is - attached to every comment I make. It's kind of odd, because I don't associate the photo with the face I see in the mirror every day. Maybe that's the appeal (to me).

I'm the one behind the camera 99.9% of the time. In fact, if you looked at our family album - if I had one - you'd swear my kids were mother-less. "There a shot of Andy and the boys. And there's another of just the boys. Wait, what's that? Can it be? Yes, it's a thumb! By golly, the woman *does* exist!" (Re: the lack of a family album: I bought all the stuff to do a scrapbook, but got so overwhelmed trying to figure out where to start...so I didn't).

Anyway, I hope you don't tire of seeing my little mug. Not that I get much traffic here, but I don't want to scare anyone away. ;-)

I don't mind... I have a little pic too. I found your link through D~
I have been scrapbooking for about 9 months now, alternating between my two girls albums (they are 5 yrs and 2 yrs old). I meet with 3 girlfriends every Monday night once the kids are in bed (around 8:30 pm). It's a nice night out and we are getting things accomplished at the same time. I know that D was thinking of starting to do something... I am going to take a picture of a couple of my pages and send them to her. You are right- getting started can be difficult but once you get past the first page, it is actually quite fun. The good part about doing it with friends is the feedback and ideas you might not have thought of.

Hope that you don't mind that I read your BLOG and made a comment!

I've seen your pic on D's blog - thanks for stopping by mine. I bought a whole bunch of scrapbooking stuff. I took all my pix out of the old albums and picked which ones I want to use - the ones that didn't make the cut are labeled, sorted into envelopes and tucked into a storage box. I just can't get it together to do page 1. Your idea is a good one, though...maybe if I find a scrapbook buddy, she can prod me along. I'll check with D but she and I have a dickens of a time coordinating our schedules (thank goodness for email, blogs and IM).

No DOUBT! Emails, Blogs and IM's...sad but true ( thank you, Metallica ).
I like your face there. I was trying to see if I have one with MY face. As far as family shots go, you will see my left foot-or any groovy shoe I am wearing-in a few pix. that is how I "prove" I was there.
Been doing it so long now...started with my sisters when we were all younger.

Too funny! Why is it that every photo ever taken of me either 1) looks awful, or 2) looks fine but doesn't resemble me in the least? I can't tell you how many people have seen the Glamour Shot (I know, I know) taken when I was 27 and ask, "Who's that?" Cheesy as the Glamour Shot is, I never looked better...before or since. ;-)

My sister in law did a glamour shot when she was in High School. It resembles her.. but it is almost as if she was there but her "essence" wasn't. Does that make ANY sense? Maybe it looks that way from the hazy effect they put on the pic?

It *does* make sense. My Glamour Shot isn't hazy, but it's really not "ME" either. (I wish!) I remember as soon as the shoot was over, I went straight to their bathroom and washed the gook off my face. Don't get me wrong, I wear makeup daily, but not the kind of spackle they put on me.
I tend not to recognize myself in most pictures (videos are even worse!). Maybe that's why I tend to glom on to the rare decent photo.
